Check 2.1 · Brand identity

Does your site say who you are in structured data?

JSON-LD identifies the organization. Structured data hands engines exact facts — name, organization, what you offer — to ground an answer in.

What the check looks at

The check looks for JSON-LD on each page and for an Organization (or a Person, for a personal brand) in it, with a name, a URL and ideally a logo and sameAs links. Without it the page offers no machine-readable statement of who is behind it.

Why it matters

Structured data hands engines exact facts — name, organization, what you offer — to ground an answer in. Without it they infer, and inference across the web is how a brand gets mixed up with another of the same name.

How to see it on your own site

View source and search for application/ld+json. The schema & entity tool runs thirteen checks on a homepage's JSON-LD — Organization and WebSite entities, name mirrored in visible text, logo, sameAs, @id links.

How to fix it

What the agent does: the agent puts the Organization block into every page's head from inside the site — one click.

Questions people ask.

Which schema type should a company use?

Organization, with the specific subtype only when it fits (LocalBusiness for a place people visit, Corporation is rarely needed). The subtype matters less than the fields: name, url, logo, sameAs.

Is microdata or RDFa fine?

They are valid, but JSON-LD is what the engines document and what the check reads.
